Fading - After Super Sunday Is Over

and the game draws
to an end
          the gladiators are now
returning home
   The crowd's appetitie having
been sated
As in the Coliseum of
old
    we still gather by
the tens of thousands
        cheer on the warriors
Later, when shadows cover
       the field
   and the stands have
emptied
    Contemplate for a moment
Have we really changed so
much through the millenia?
If the wind remembers anything
it remembers
         the joy of the cheering
throngs
         and as darkness casts
her shroud
      sweet peace for all
 concerned
              in that other world
known as dreamland
