Eyes Wide Open

Her hand kept beating on the dashboard To the rhythm of the music While singing “Uncle John’s Band” At the top of her lungs Almost appearing in a desperate need To find some harmony that was missed It was just one of those days When everything seemed to fit in place No pains and no problems Hell She could almost close her eyes And it would be 1968 all over again That is At least for a very brief moment Sometimes life hits you like that But fortunately She decided to keep her eyes open As the car continued down the road With an off-key singer And a slapping hand
