Eyes To the Soul

Grandma said

People’s eyes are the key to their soul

There are stories to be told

Eyes can tell you a story of pain

A story of joy

A story of sorrow

Eyes can tell you lies

Or the truth

Eyes of the old and of the youth

Eyes can tell you a story of love

A story of mystery

Even a story of history

Eyes can tell you myths

Stories from the abyss

Even stories of bliss

Eyes can tell you a story of happiness

A story of stories

Eyes can tell you about worries

Look into someone’s eyes when you talk

You can read what they are all about

You’ll walk away with no doubts

A person’s mouth can tell you a lie

Their actions can be of deceit

But their eyes, they cannot defeat

Eyes are key

Because they will unfold

The very essence of your soul
