The spark within the marrow deeply glows, While thought, a restless bird, takes sudden flight; The heavy limb its earthly burden knows, Yet spirit dances in the inner light. This frame of clay, by pulsing blood sustained, Doth house a kingdom vast as any sea, Where every ache and pleasure is ingrained, To bind the soul to its mortality. The senses wake to drink the morning air, As reason weaves a tapestry of gold; A dual grace beyond all fit compare, Both fleet of foot and stout of heart to hold. So long as breath and fancy play their part, Living within our eyes and in our hearts.
