Eyes of Innocence Turning

Deception born of any measure
is granite 'gainst the naked eye
It's vinegar instead of blood
turning green in copper veins
It's footprints filled with broken glass
and motor oil on the tongue
It's lacerations of the heart
filled with acrid salt.
Deception breaks the trusting eye
and concrete pours a lasting frown
It's tattooed metal on the mind
which once dreamed only in color
It's every wrinkle filled with age
It's choking lungs inhaling rust
The death of weeping misplaced trust
with eyes of innocence turning...
