Eye of the Storm

Look me in the eyes
And tell me no lies

If I am a man then I am a man
But believe me I have no plan

A shifting paradox with locks
I'm crafty like a fox

Close the window and the blinds
The room goes black like our minds

Delusion paints my apathy
As I peer at the sky absently

Drift in and out on the wind
Scars eventually mend

You told me death is not the answer
Even if living is truly a cancer

I slip into the shadows at night
And I cry in despair at the thought of losing sight

Embrace a world of gray
Grace is found in the flowers of May

And I surely brought you to tears
Highlighting every one of your fears

Each word I spew creates a stain
Such a strain that fills you with pain

And I'm the one confused when you refused
To allow my soul to be battered and abused

You told me strength is in the flower
And that its power can unlock the dark tower

I don't know what's worth fighting for
And this game is something I abhor

My heart crashes with thunder
And I'm afraid of my most recent blunder

Look me in the eyes
And I'll tell you no lies

If I control your heart thread
You're doomed to be dead

Because if you need a reason
Realize my love is truly treason

Christopher, I really enjoyed reading your work tonight. I really appreciate how you tell your story in rhyming couplets!
