Extra Kissing

we fail
we fall
we step on cracks
the earth moves under our feet
we can’t stay still
our backs
to the wall
our eyes stuck in the muck
we can’t go back
we can only walk into the future
actually we are shoved
we’ve no choice, of that
we carry all our baggage
on our backs
it affects our hearts
pulls on the strings of our tear ducts
and there is nothing we can do
oh how we wish we’d go back to the past
pull each little one
on our laps
kiss them over and over again
tell them how rich you are
for having them
at that very moment
perhaps that extra kissing
will do the trick
each will never doubt again
nor give themself
to anything less than love
love sweet love
they will know it when they see it
weak knees, palpitations,
nothing less
and so much more
a shining knight
will never leave her side
a strong and humble lady
will be his pride

This is so very creative, Kim. What an innovative way to see the future unfolding!

My past was always full of trouble. My retirement is best forgotten. What's left? Let us indulge in kissing. ~~

So much extra kissing I would do if I could “pull my little ones” back on my lap. Lovely Kim.

I know! I’d look at them as the wonders they are. XXX

Oh, how we wish we could have those precious moments back to hug and kiss and hold them -- and then we find, like Emily Gibbs in Act 3 of 'Our Town -- that we can't go back, that people just don't appreciate life as it's happening... 'The poets and the saints, maybe,' as the narrator opines.... Love this one, Kim! Thanks, gw
