Expectimations

how sweet life begins
everything is new and exciting
no expectations
no limitations

pitter patter of feet so tender
running thru house and yard
no expectations
no limitations

out with Dad to pick out a car
but didn't we just get a bicycle
no expectations
no limitations

time to walk down the isle
to begin a life anew
no expectations
no limitations

leaving now for the hospital
the baby is on the way
no expectations
no limitations

many years older and a little wiser
one thing I have come to know
is that expectations just
lead to limitations
