Expectations Were Tremendously High

his hunter’s heart leapt a bit
expectations were tremendously high
perhaps because of the twilight sun
there was a surrealism about it
a silent night in a forest of secrets
for what am I waiting? He wondered or for whom?
barely breathing as a gorgeous ten point buck stepped into the clearing
