Notes About The Poem

Exciting Uncertainty

I love to walk upon the path of life
Each day a new adventure to behold.
Wake at dawn to greet the sun at rise
Stretch out my arms, a new day to embrace.

What will transpire through each passing hour?
With every breath, I do enjoy this time,
Not waste a precious second in regret
Instead, stride forth each moment I will seize.

With every step my footprints leave behind
A mark to signify where I have been.
Reminding those who come across my path
That I have also walked upon this earth.

To smell the sweet perfume sent out in spring
And let the summer sun warm up my soul.
I’ll clutch the autumn leaves upon the ground
Before the winter’s chill my fingers seek.

Bright starry night brings peaceful offerings
Reflective wonders canopy this earth,
Tranquility and calm these gifts supreme
Be mine to claim a thankful recompense.

The dawn escapes through night-time’s cloak of black
To bring her lighted beacon to our sight,
No one will know where destiny may lead
Uncertainty forever will prevail.

How quickly time escapes our clutching hands
Before we must transcend to where we came.
But I’ll embrace each moment like the last
Be never wasteful; make each second count.
