Eve's daughters
We were doomed from the start,
Children of rags and absence,
Cursed to suffer from their first breath,
Raised with tears from birth
Mother dearest, why do your eyes light in delight when I cry?
Mother dearest, do you see me?
Do you see me?
Me! Your own fruit!
Do you see me? Your eyes are clouded.
Mother dearest, do you see me?
Me! The product of your wild desire!
Mother, do you see me?
Don't relish in my cries.
Mother, don't trample my heart.
Mother, cradle me, please.
Mother, wash away your false anger.
Mother, do you see me?
Wounded, oh me. Broken, oh me.
Battered, oh me. Do you see me?
Your palms are bleeding, my face is swollen.
But do you see me?
Mother dearest, do you see me?
Pale, oh me. Deathly still.
But do you see me?
Your brows are scrunched up,
Your eyes are watering,
Your screams are deafening,
Your heart is crumbling.
Mother dearest, do you see me?
Your own fruit, reaping your sowed trauma.
Your own fruit, gone from the pain you bestowed her.
Mother dearest, do you see me?
Wipe your tears.
Quiet your screams.
Pick up your pieced heart.
Mother dearest, do you see?
Do you see with clear eyes?
You had no hand in my demise.
