EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL

EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL It has been said that everything is beautiful Both nature and creative works of mankind But that is solely in the eye of the beholder Am I becoming more cynical as I get older It’s a solution, not the problem, you’ll find Is reticence now to be regarded as dutiful So, I shall keep my opinions only to myself Many failed attempts at remodelling nature I am not disposed to make any concession Despite this veiled attempt at a confession Much artwork won’t survive long I’ll wager Such as those ornaments there on the shelf Can criticism truly be treated as objective A few things appear ugly, at least at first But this might be a distorted point of view As everything must surely be given its due And all is revealed in a bright sudden burst Realising that a mirror is actually reflective

wisdom in your words, Howard. As I've 'aged,' I've often wondered if I've become cynical...I've learned that cynicism is a byproduct of age and circumstance and no longer use cynicism to taint my view of the world. Everything must be given its due...and you're correct about the 'mirror' thing :-) Have a splendid evening, Sara
