Everything In Its Own Sweet Time
In my dreams, one of many dreams I have,
I see myself running down a long, curving path.
My beautiful woman's face contorted with intense dissatisfaction,
dissatisfaction with what I had not yet achieved, or with
what people have told me I should be.
Later in this same dream, while still running, running away
from my life, from me; I catch up with a lady who could soon
be me twenty years later. This lady looks so weary, her mouth
contorted into a frown... she too was dissatisfied with what
she had not yet found.
This other lady in my dreams found it in herself to look over
to me, and with a gift of priceless wisdom she said to me,
"This is not what you want to be just like me, an old and worried
woman... no, you don't want to be just like me.... old while yet young.
Everything that you are to be in this life will happen in its own
sweet, sweet time. Just you wait and see."
With an unspoken agreement, with just a look of understanding
which passed between us, this lady and I stopped running... then
we began to walk, our such contorted faced began to relax; the
lines disappeared from our faces, our frowns slowly turned into
such sweet smiles.
Starting to look at God's splendid beauty which was all around
us, we started to realize just how good it was to be alive.
