Everything

I cannot stem the tears from flowing, Nor sweep the dust that wreaths my prayers, Nor fray the hemp that ties my knowing Of your leaving. I cannot switch back to the splendour, Nor face the days bereft of you, Nor grasp the thorn that must engender My silent grieving. I cannot know if ties will sever, Nor speak the words to soothe my plight, Nor hold you in my arms forever Against this sting. I cannot bear as time crawls nearer, Nor phrase it in more crystal speech, Nor paint the picture any clearer, You are everything.
