Evermore

A long time ago
in a place called
my memory
you reached
so far into me
as if you alone
had always held
the secret password
to my innermost soul

I loved you then

A lifetime ago
in a castle called
my heart
I surrendered to be
forever by your side
your very soul
mine to protect
for you had unlocked
life’s mysteries for me

I love you now

A heartbeat ago
in a place called
our home
I watched you sleep
and gave
silent thanks
for every dream
that you alone
have made come true

I will love you
               ………… evermore
