Eulogy For a Psychiatrist

Listening never heard
Watching never seen
Relating unrelated
Screening behind a screen
Eyes
white lights in a blue pool
maybe one watt
Voice
warm soothing
a computerized hum
Thoughts mechanized
Battery recharged every hour
on the hour
Grown man
Alone man
Stone man

The stone man really got to me. I am still thinking, which makes this a great piece.

Thanks, Dean. I wrote this almost forty years ago. It was the only poem I ever published(about thirty-five years ago or so). Now I wanted to see what kind of a reaction it would get.

Dale, great write! I could see this happening to a person in that profession. You would have to be made of stone in time listening to so much heartbreak every day. 7+++
