Eulogy

Dawn hurls new day as sad sighs breeze,
Grief comes to sway abrupt lost lease.

Yes death's a thief that steals and takes,
Grief floods not brief with this heart break.

Pain lines each face of kin and kind,
The living space hurts peace of mind.

Eyes streak with tears as loss sparks plain,
For one so dear that death has slain.

Too soon, too late, words fail to sum,
Closure frames fate yet grief feels numb.

Your time's now past from this good earth,
One look at last ere death claims mirth.

Few words can tell of history,
Brief fragments dwell this eulogy.

A good man died upon this shores,
And yes we cried like not before.
