Eternal Soul

I look at you and wonder
How is it you made it through
You must have had some battles
And won at least a few

A thousand lines across your face
Say you’ve been here awhile
And I wasn’t surprised to learn
You've traveled many a mile

Yes, time has left its mark on you
And your body is bent and old
But there is something that time can’t touch
It is what is commonly called your soul

It puts the sparkle in your eye
And the love light in your heart
Yes, the body grows old and dies
Before your soul departs

It goes we know not where
When that time arrives
The body is buried and gone forever
But the soul is free and remains alive

So never fear the onslaught of age
You still have places to go
When it is time to shed the body
It shall free your eternal soul
