Escape the Day
First moment of awakening
I can feel your lost breathe
linger cross my
moisture laden skin.
I dreamed again that
I caressed the nape of your
neck with kisses as I had
done on oh, so many
lost dawns.
I could feel your long
lean fingers
surround my waist on
either side of my navel
to pull me closer to your
chest like you used to when
the warm Slippery Rock
rain used to slide cross
your little basement window.
We would slide
under your silky feather down,
hold each other close
and whisper of escaping
the day.
