Erlena

Maybe a year
maybe two
The time I spent
loving you

For some are given
a child or two
Some even more
than just a few

I cherish the time
I spent with you
You just a baby
the beggining of your youth

Old enough to speak
small enough to carry
A comtort when you'd weep
entertainment when you tarried

You were one of Gods
gifts to me
That perfect age
where love should be

Only now to feel
that certian degree
Where how and who
God would bless me

A beautiful woman
You turned out to be
A picture fills the
distance between you and me

But life has been generous
After many years I see
I'm thankful for the path
Made for you and me

Maybe I missed the
troubled years
The times that were feared
when danger was near

I missed your graduation
so glad I missed your dating
But that's just one of those things
Fathers are meant for hating

I'm sending you a gift of love
from my heart; my up above
I hope you see the love from me
As tall as a mountain, as deep as the sea
