'ere Comes Earl!

Don't stop the CHOP
dash the glorious bits of foam and froth
let the leeward side fill
let the fertile delta pray
for mercy from Poseidon
All hail the storm God...

Angry, black-and-blue, bruise
the coast, claim the futile calm...
meditate on the black hole of the abyss
Can’t STOP the chop…

Brash and brazen tentacle of DOOM
destruction stirs the devil’s cauldron
Watch the witches brew boil over the
capes of man
removing the zen garden
prissiness of the pandering fools

Batten DOWN the hatches boys
There BE a BLOW on ‘er…
ships flail like paper boats
RALE against the dieing, FIGHT
Ride the crest on boards LIVE the fright!

How did this all turn out for you, Deb. Did it blow over ya? I like the way you mixed common speech with eloquence in this poem. OH, and a late thanks to you for responding to my blog on what you suffered thru. I was opposite of you. Never had a skinniness problem. haha. Luv, Andrea

Nice parody of Dylan, and a funny tribute to the power of nature. Thanks for reading my poem (I read your blog).

Love the Greek Mythology reference. "RALE against dieing" reminds me of Dylan Thomas: "Rage against the dying of the light". I don't know if it's your intention, but I like the message I saw "Brash and brazen tentacle of DOOM"; when in the face of certain doom, anger is more useful than despair.

Hope you are safe and sound up there in your north-eastern homeland, and his wrath doesn't decend upon the New England course, as once predicted! Batten down your own hatches, just in case, stay safe and sound until I'm home again on Monday...okay?? Leaving in the morning...hope all our souper friends are taking cover if need be!! :)
