Equality Meets Us At the End

"Death comes equally to us all, it's true,
No matter who we are or what we pursue.
It doesn't heed our wealth or our fame,
Taking us all the same, without a name.

Before death, we may hold power and might,
Yet in its eyes, equality is the sight.
Be it king or slave, rich or poor,
All meet the same end, forevermore.

It cares not for who's right or wrong,
Death claims us all, a relentless song.
So let us not be misled by wealth or fame,
In the end, we share the same fate's claim.

Death, the great equalizer, you see,
It doesn't discriminate, an endless sea.
Taking the strong, the weak, the brave, and the meek,
Ending up your power or the glory you seek.

Let us not be swayed by our life's station,
Death comes equally, a shared foundation.
Cherish each moment, live with glee,
For death will come, and equal we'll be."

"John Donne's writing served as inspiration for the poem, and the well-known line, "Death comes equally to us all and makes us all equal when it comes," is directly from Donne. Donne is often considered the greatest love poet in the English language. He is also noted for his religious verse and treatises and for his sermons, which rank among the best of the 17th century."
