Epitaph

“you’re killing me….”
words that I hung in the air,
a prophecy that resonates through sleepless nights
my heart said goodbye to itself
that chilling evening in early August
how sacred the hidden treasure of a wife and mother
how broken the memories
how haunting the path not taken

Hi Linda. This is a powerful expression because it captures the paradox of regret: the more we idealize what we walked away from, the more impossible it becomes to fully leave it behind. I felt this. - Christopher Haywood

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
