“There are moments in life when anxiety, bewilderment and tension can turn into slow acceptance, opening new spiritual insights and strengthening one’s faith”--- By Poet

In dazzled astonishment
She looked up from her reverie,
As she heard the flap of wings overhead
And saw the flash of laser beams in her dim lit room
Before her, stood a winged seraph
A radiant silhouette with such gentleness and grace
Never beholden on any human face.
With hands raised in benediction,
Gabriel saluted Mary and said-
“Blessed art thou amongst women…
……………………………………

The rest she heard in a trance.
Unable to comprehend what was conveyed,
The girl looked up nonplussed.
Again he said, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee
And a son shall be born of thee
Whom you shall call Jesus”

In that nanosecond of a new revelation,
Did Mary’s world shatter like glassware
Or did her virgin womb thrill with new life?

Was it a moment of epiphany when she felt,
Heaven opened before her in all its splendor?

Did she swim in the waters of joyful tiding?
Or gyrate in the sweeping swirl of tidal waves.

For the girl already espoused to a man,
In whose dreams his comely form had begun
Flitting in and out,
Was it a moment of silent ravishment?
Or of stupefied bewilderment?
Did a dagger cut through her heart?

Not sure, however Mary didn’t flee,
To her it was an epiphany
And she willingly said- “Let it be”
In her case, dread and epiphany came in synergy.

If it be so, then so be it. If you look for it the Bible is full of God's poetry. Congratulations on your win, Valsa.

It would be so cool to know her thoughts in that very moment. What an honor was bestowed on her despite the awkwardness she must have felt! Great idea for the contest 🕊️

This amazing poem is beautifully written and uses vivid language and feelings to describe a mysterious meeting. It shows Mary's meeting with Gabriel, showing how she felt awe and confusion along with grace and acceptance. The images of laser beams and a seraph with wings give an old story a new and creative feel through their use. The way you write about Mary's feelings is both thoughtful and sympathetic, showing how difficult that moment was. Good job!
