Epidemic
You come like a thief in the night
Unwelcome and Unbidden
You come unknown
Mysterious like the dark side of the moon
You have not revealed yourself to us
Your stay is disheartening
Your ripple effect causes a pandemonium world wide
You could have chosen to be a friendly visitor
But rather you chose to be cruel
Our nations fall at your mercy
Our households quiver at the mere thought of your arrival at their door
You have an insatiable hunger for any warm body
If only you could have been a picky devourer
Only salivating for us the ones who have lived long enough to welcome our demise
If that means our young ones are guaranteed to see another day
For as long as your identity remains unveiled
Our hearts will know no peace
We only ask you to show us mercy
Even if it is in the slightest brief
