Enter the Bunker

Feeling the calamity coming,
edgy thoughts ...
enter the bunker

Following in Hitler’s footsteps,
going down underground ...
into the safe panic place

The isolated catacomb haven,
dark insulated protection ...
enter the bunker

Hiding in the bowels of the earth,
reproach worms on a flesh search ...
enter the bunker

Imminent life defeat
conquered by suicide victory ...
into the hate womb retreat

Got the pills, bottles and gun
Just waiting for the Reaper to come ...
enter the bunker

Praying inside the Archie idol,
wanting the death angel bloodwings ...
entombed in the cocoon bunker

Fear reflex is the gag choke,
as a cloud of mushroom smoke ...
enter the bunker

I've already sussed out all the caves in close vacinity...scary and bumpy times ahead - but it's all been prophecised, so we know what we are facing. I feel in my gut there is no avoiding any of what's coming.

Powerful pen as always, I read about a guy who had prepared a load of bombs and stored lots of food, because he thought there was going to be a war, your poem reminded me of that.... Great write...

Self preservation, brought on by a sense of fear and uncertainty...or a need to dwell inside our shell ignoring the plight of others. Your poem makes us put on our thinking caps, Freddie! Regards // paul

Indeed we are living in bad times ... The refrain enter the bunker very objectively conveys the images ... Powerful metaphoric expression ...
