Enough Is Enough
If it weren’t for my distractions
I’d end it all today.
Turn my back on society
And simply walk away.
Gone would be my days of worry
And suffering through the pain.
Of having those I’ve helped the most
Screw me once again.
I’m alone in days of solitude
But even more so when I’m not
Seem’s the only “friends” that come around
Steal everything I’ve got
I’ve tried hard to be helpful
Feeding the hungry and the poor
But the only thing I hear them say
is “More! Damn it ! More !”
When asked the other day
why a man would put a bullet in his head
I laughed so hard because many days
I wish that I was dead
I’ve learned to read the writings
that are scribbled on life’s wall
And come to understand
the futility of it all
For those who haven’t noticed
No one gets out of this alive
Death is always lurking
Be it cancer or fatal drive
I’ve given up on humanity
I see no loving god
To waste your time in search of one
Is something I find odd
When I take a look around
I see everyone is upset
They hate their job,
their car,
their neighbor,
their shoes,
the gays,
the whites ,
the blacks,
the Jews.
The Puerto Ricans,
the Russians ,
the Chinese ,
Californians ,
Martians ,
Mormons,
Catholics,
fat people,
old people,
cats,
dogs,
kids,
the color of grass or the sky at night
and even the president.
Yet through all of the misery
They want to live another day
Though in the morning when the sun come’s up
They’ve nothing nice to say
They scream and shout and rant about - demanding nothing but the best
Yet when they’re asked how much they need
They simply shout :
“More than all the rest”
Having never learned:
More is simply more….
and it’s nothing more than that…
