Enjoying a Summer's Eve
Scrambling through the bramble bushes of life
I wonder what is my mission?
Who has the answer? Is it in the cosmos? I look up and smile.
The stars wink at me, holding their own secrets.
My soul is on mute tonight. The silence is wonderful.
A little breeze lifts the edge of my hair. Life is good.
My ideas and ideals are sound.
The only thing I need to do is enjoy this summer’s eve.
Whoo Whoo Whoo A hoot owl honors me with his notes.
In these woods there is no way to figure out his direction.
Coyotes have caught something. They begin yipping excitedly.
I imagine a bunny is being surrounded. Poor bunny.
A whiff of lilac teases my heart. I am so glad I planted that bush.
There is enough star light to take a bit of a walk. I stay on my own land.
The clearing part, not the trees which hide the predators.
The dog runs off, toward the sound of the yips, brave as always.
