Engaging the Senses

I see you in the morning, with thanks true
It’s a worry after all you’ve been through
That gives the ambience of the day
For us to get on and let joys come our way.

We open the windows to beautiful sounds
Coming from the birds flying around
Hear laughter of children going to school
The future they are, such fine precious jewels.

The aroma of burnt offering you often smell
I must confess that I don’t cook that well
Still we get by and I must admit this
On those offerings we’re kept good and fit.

The touch of your hand and a sweet embrace
Then the day I’m able to face with grace
To enjoy all the gifts Mother Nature gives
When walking around the scenes that exist.

A taste of heaven for me and for you
In all things that both of us get to do
It may not be much, but to us it is
A pleasure, a treasure we love to bits.

A taste of heaven describes your poem perfectly. I have spent too much time on contests that I must stop and conentrate on my friends. I've lost quite a few unfortunately.

Hi Victor, I enjoy writing for contests because they inspire the muse. I agree they take up time, but it’s pleasurable time. Thank you, Beryl

A lovely homely poem Beryl. Such warm words. Like the humour about the cooking lol. This felt relaxing and romantic. Thank you for putting it forward for the contest. :-D

Thank you Jan, I must admit hubby is the best cook, but as you said we’re both still here so mine can’t be that bad… Beryl
