Engaged In Love

A true sense of love isn't a fluttery feeling,
It isn't easily enamored or your heart thumping or your thoughts reeling.
It isn't that someone has captured your heart or captivated your mind,
It isn't that you adore how sweet their words are or that they're one-of-a-kind.
These descriptions above are happy, are good -
But a true sense of love is one that still loves when he or she is in a bad mood.
A true sense of love doesn't wander off when times get tough,
True love sets out to find that diamond in the rough.
If a true sense of love comes easily to you, then you're in luck,
For I have struggled to remain hopeful when my emotions get stuck.
Pursuing to truly love someone brings you face-to-face with yourself - and you
uncover how selfish you can really be -
I have been loved in a true sense of love and this has opened my eyes to see -
How truly fortunate I am to have found someone who will love the deepest parts of me,
the ones that not everyone would be willing to love -
the ones that, sometimes, I wish I could be rid of.
How lovely it is to be loved in a true sense!
How I would like to love better with or without recompense...
