Endangered Species

Humans
are choking the neck
right now.

They only need
to loosen
their grip
just a little.

But humans
cannot even
do that.

Because humans
have never
had it done
for them.

The image this poem paints really hits! It not only stressed how humans can be cruel and forceful to each other, but also a hint of pity because kindness cannot be recreated in an environment where it was never demonstrated... Very inspiring, thank you for submitting this!

Dear Jasmine, Thank you so much for your thoughtful and heartfelt comment. I'm truly moved that the imagery in my poem resonated with you. Your insight into the complexities of human kindness and cruelty adds depth to the conversation I hoped to spark. I'm grateful for your engagement and encouragement. Warm regards, Shinsaku Ashida
