Encouragement To a New Christian
ENCOURAGEMENT TO A NEW CHRISTIAN
Your past sins may still often hound you,
Old habits may still have control,
And yet you are thankful God found you
And thankful that Christ saved your soul.
Perhaps you have said, “Is it worth it?”
The battle now seems fierce and strong;
There’s treasure, though, if you’ll unearth it
In living for Him all day long.
Two natures are there now inside you,
Each tugging at you different ways;
The secret is to let God guide you
And spend time with Him every day.
You’re just like a crawling new baby
Who struggles to walk on his feet;
You struggle with “hope so” and “maybe”
And tremble at each trial you meet.
But just like a kind, loving father,
God’s watching from His home above,
And wanting to take all your bother
And rest in His unending love.
He knows all your trials and your weakness,
But His grace is sufficient for you.
He said you are blessed in your meekness,
Depending on what He can do.
You look at the lives of some others
Who seem overcoming and strong,
But I’ll tell you a secret, dear brother,
They, too, find some days dark and long.
We all need the strength of our Savior,
The encouragement others can give,
So trust in His love and His favor
And for Him each day try to live!
