Empty Streets
Craving a poboy,
a women in Michigan
hangs her head and cries,
longing for a home
that no longer exists.
Dreaming of seafood,
Mardi Gras, snowballs
and jazz bands-
A man in Oklahoma
awakes in tears.
As one lonely jazz horn
floats a requiem
over empty streets,
and a pot of gumbo simmers
in a government issued trailer.
