EMPTY ROOMS
Sometimes there are echoes -
echoes of past laughter,
homeliness, warmth
as all around is held with the
flames of love and life.
Each corner is warm,
welcoming and cosy.
A safe haven to rest and
to just be.
To be loved and to love.
The clock chimes with the
passing of time and yet
this life I grasp now remains
immortal and frozen in the
past - undying - like the
love I have for you.
The sweetest voice belonged to
you. How I miss it!
The warmest embrace was
yours to give to all.
The most radiant smile which
lit up from inside was
yours to bestow.
Your life, your legacy,
was your gift that was wrapped
in layers of love.
Perhaps the eerie silence wraps
and hugs me like you
once did.
Perhaps the resounding walls
of a symphony that no
longer plays doesn’t.
A home without its vibrating heart.
A home lost without your
beautiful, illuminated presence.
A home that is no longer a
home without your dwelling.
Haunted spirit of myself
that drifts through mists
of loneliness.
There is but shattering silence.
Shards of a splintered heart
that slices through as it grips the void
with an iciness that could never melt.
Empty
spaces empty
chairs
empty
rooms
