Empty Nest

Education came as an excuse for departure, You went away, full of smiles, as a marcher; As though out of sight was the only reason, My heart played a drastic treason; It stopped pumping; I stood as though dead, Your mom fainted out of dread; There started our agony and anxiety, Stealing from us our normal gaiety; Long phone conversation is not helping, As at this empty nest, our hatchling is not chirping; Distress and depression have come to stay, Living with grief, each day has been our way; Have you prepared yourself for staying alone? Is self-cooking you now known?
