Empty chair at the table

**Empty Chair at the Table** In the glow of twinkling lights, I find a shadow, An empty chair where laughter used to soar, The echoes of your love, a haunting echo, I count the moments, wishing for you more. Holidays once filled with warmth and grace, Now carry the weight of silence and despair, I light a candle in your treasured place, And whisper secrets I wish you could share. Mama, your laughter was the song of my heart, In every memory, your spirit remains, But with each passing moment, we drift further apart, And the joy of the season feels heavy with chains. Oh, how I long to feel your arms around me, To breathe in the comfort of your gentle embrace, I’d give my last breath, if only you’d see, The world is so cold—this life I must face. The snow falls like tears on the doorstep of grief, Each flake a reminder of what I have lost, The joy of the season, now burdened with disbelief, The warmth of your love is a heavy cost. Wishing for just one more giggle, one smile, To share with you stories beneath the soft glow, But the silence is loud, stretching mile after mile, In a world without you, I wander so low. The carols ring hollow; the feasts feel so empty, Each moment a reminder—I’m drifting alone, I search the horizon, but there’s nothing to see, Just the echo of love that was once my home. So here I sit, beneath the shimmering tree, A tear rolls like water from my aching soul, Oh, mama, how I wish you were here with me, For the holidays are hollow, and I feel so small. If wishes were whispers, I’d shatter the night, To hear your sweet voice soft and near, But I hold you in memories, a flicker of light, And cherish our moments, though you’re not here. The world seems so heavy; the colors all gray, I search for your spirit in every small sign, Until we meet again, I’ll carry this way, Knowing your love is a treasure, divine.
