Empty Boxes
You went away to keep us safe
To fight our nation's war
Giving all you had to give
'Til you could give no more
They sent me all the letters
That I had sent to you
They said that you were M.I.A
There was nothing they could do
They said that you'd been ambushed
And some had lost their lives
They sent out all these letters
To inform the soldiers wives
Now alone I sit and wait
To see if someone knocks
To tell me that you're K.I.A
And to bury an empty box
They could not find your body
To lower in the grave
A medal and flag is all I have
For the sacrifice you gave
