Notes About The Poem

Poem submitted to “Musings on a Bench” poetry contest, Nette Onclaud sponsor, March 15, 2026

EMPTY BENCH BECKONS

Under bare maple boughs,
sits an empty bench
its peeling green slates beckon~
a lonely parentheses
above leaves, laid to rest
beneath silent, frigid winter sky.

But tranquility dwells in this place~
my soul finds peace in this space.

There is something sooo melancholic yet romantic about rainy autumn afternoons.

I enjoyed reading your wonderful "EMPTY BENCH BECKONS" write. Great Ending... It is amazing how different the writers are to the same picture. "Good Luck" I did, "The Lonely Bench." Have a great day/week writing away............
