Emily

O sweet Emily
What is this hollow melody that you play?
It follows me through the shadows
It swells up in me like a disease
O sweet Emily
Sitting on your broken piano
Playing your sad melody
With eyes filled with red tears
O sweet Emily what is this melody that you play?
“It’s the melody of your death my love”
O sweet Emily, you still love me so

Not sure if you intended to write about Emily Dickinson, but that is who I thought of. Her verse wasn't discovered until after she died and a century later her poems continue to haunt us. Love and Death were her two most prominent subjects. Excellent poem, Guy-Adler! Love, Carolyn
