embrace it
embrace the little things.
the feeling of the cold glass of wine in your hand and the feel of your feet hitting the patio as you step outside in the warm summer evenings.
the feeling of sand in your toes that you so desperately want to brush off but there’s something healing about being that close to the sea.
the flicker of orange light as you light the cigarette you’ve been desperate to get outside and smoke.
the first inhale of it.
seeing your mum throw her head back and laugh because you’ve just made a really funny joke.
locking eyes with your best friend in a room full of people because only you two understand the joke. putting your key in the ignition, about to get out of the place you really wanted to leave.
your girlfriends cold finger tips on your skin making you shudder; its from the cold at first but it’s layered with the warmth of knowing she just touched you.
taking your boots off after a night out and feeling your heel slip out of the leather.
putting a blanket around your cold legs
the feeling of sticking up to somebody when you thought you’d never have the power to
saying “i’ve moved on” and you really feel every syllable of the word this time
the really good cry in the bathroom mirror after everything that felt heavy finally lifted off of your shoulders
it’s so easy to let these little things slip away
don’t let them; embrace them
embrace everything,
embrace every little thing
