Notes About The Poem

Honesty is always the best policy because when the truth comes out the very fact that everyone knows you told an untruth is embarrassing to say the least.

Embellishment

Sometimes to make more interesting,
A story being told,
Some folks will try to enhance it,
To make it sound more bold.

Sometimes when we're relating,
An experience one's had,
Certain things are added,
To enhance the good or bad.

Often when retelling,
Some newsy bit of info,
A supposition can slip in.
The story changes, bingo.

Whether to make it exciting,
To help or hinder tried,
It isn't simple embellishment.
The truth is that you lied.

A poem about a "fish story" told by many fisherman. "It was a real big one, so big, that it broke my line and got away". Enjoyed this poem very much.

Love it --- Truth and Lies... Lies, in truth! I only ate one Baby Ruth... lol... A lie becomes a fib or a stretcher. A fib becomes the truth. The Truth is Engraved in Stone! ... Orwellian, isn't it?! ~ gw

It is very rare that I write about myself. My poems are fiction and as such they cannot be considered lies. In my life I rarely told a lie. I believe in coming clean. ~~
