Embarrassed and Shamed

I have said with pride all my life, "I am an American!" We will always be on your side. Embarressment and shame, Fill me every day. Murder and hate crimes increase with no release in sight. Failing abysmally with our help. To people here in our communities, The country, and the world. Now we grovel in fear, For what the next day will bring. Or any loses to those we hold dear. I am embarrassed and ashamed, Of the America we became. Hold little hope, For any relief. For what we have become, As a country, we continue to be undone.

I hold the opposite view...the World has changed...finally. America has propped up the 'Free-World' for far too long: paid the price in dollars and young lives. Its time the World stood on its own two feet. Don't feel a need to apologize for America...without it...the World would have sank into the abyss a long, long time ago. Cheers! :) john p.s I owe all those young lives a debt I can repay: freedom, liberty and democracy.

Thanks for your reply, I am glad you are feeling positive about our country. Maybe things will change and more evidence of freedom and democracy will be forth coming. I know that change is an opportunity for resilience.
