Bj Legros Kelley Poet Rhyme

Elijah

                                  I still recall when we heard the news

                                          that you were on the way

                             The family was gathered for a fun-filled event,

                                               it was a lovely day!

                                Your mama, the queen of the camara,

                                           Set up her new Nikon

                              The family were called to the front yard

                                        The camara's timer set on.

                               Counting backward before the flash, which

                                  was meant for the fam to say "Cheese!"

                               We'd be ready to smile together, avoiding

                                    blinks, or chit-chat, lest a sneeze!

                                  The day was aglow in the family joy

                                The breath on the breezes was fragrant

                                 Your papa was counting the time back,

                                              'Three, two, one..."

                                               Then announced,

                                              "Amy's Pregnant!!"

                          Those faces all poised for the capture of smiles

                                     reflected now shock and surprise!

                           And the joy in your mother's and father's smiles

                                     shown bright in their faces and eyes!

                      That day seems so close in my memory, that first day

                                                 we all learned of you,

                    Then the day of your birth, and the joy, love and mirth

                          When we held our newborn precious grandson,

                                  You brought ever more joy to our earth!

                             Our memories glow in the stream and the flow,

                                        Elijah, our sweet dream come true!

                                          Thirteen now, I cannot believe it!

                                      Happy Birthday dear grandson to you!!!



                                        I love you, Elijah! Happy 13th Birthday!

God is amazing! :) Bj Legros Kelley May 15, 2026 at 5:59 PM I'm glad you enjoyed my tribute to my grandson Evelynn :) It was such a surprise, my daughter had always wanted children, and her kids were those students she cared for and worked with at the elementary school, but none in a cradle at home. Years were passing quickly, and it didn't seem very likely or possible anymore, and then, the announcement! I thought my son-in-law a bit not so nice to make such a joke....it wasn't a joke it was REALLY true!!! :) So awesome. My facial expression was still holding that 'cheese' smile as I thought "Why would he say such a thing, poor Amy..." Lol, there were several of us with 'that' look, others had turned toward Amy, mouths open it shock :) Our God is an awesome God, and He blessed us so much with this sweet boy! I praise Jesus, the Healer of my daughter's womb. She had only been told maybe a couple of months before that she needed to have a hysterectomy, praising God she did NOT do that!! She now has four beautiful children :)

I sent it Friday night and expected it to be there on his birthday on Monday, but he didn't receive it yet, I do hope it gets there even if late. I made a little charm of beads and put it on the outside of his birthday card, I hope that didn't impede it from getting to its destination!

CayCay Godwin May 2, 2026 at 9:04 AM This is well written, sweet and a joy to read, the love is there between each word. If you are like me, all your immediate relatives have BD poems, as well as other poems for other reasons. I enjoyed reading your bio. It reminded me that we are all a living novel, especially by 60 or so. Like you, I began writing young, it called me around 7th grade, I think. I have given my family permission to throw out the millions of notebooks and other pages with my handwriting. No guilt/just toss! SO MANY!!! Our youngest grandson turned 15 this year and he got his learner driver's license. He is growing up so. I totally understand how you are feeling about your grandson. Sara K Bj Legros Kelley May 2, 2026 at 5:01 AM Thank you Sara :) The years do fly, I thought they flew quickly with our first family of five, then our adopted three which came quite a few years later, and are also now all grown up. The grandkids now are growing up in a blink of an eye, I just cannot believe he is already a teenager! Oh my, your 15 year old grandson already has his learner's license to drive, that will scare me a bit when my grandson gets his, they live in a big city I am afraid to drive in! Well, as we slow down as we grow older, we can stay really busy praying for them :) Thank you for your visit and comment Sara :) <3

The thought came to me that he was teasing, I guess I'd lost hope too, it hadn't been very long before that a doctor told my daughter she would need a hysterectomy, I am so grateful she didn't do that!
