Elephant

Little elephant guy Ganesh
Facing out up on my dash
The traffic cars seem to part
And speed me on my way

And as the miles roll away
I notice he has turned
now he's facing me
On this endless highway

As I come up on the backs of trucks
Elephants of the highway road
Under his carved watchful eye
The truth begins to unfold

Behemoths keep their pace
Much too slow for me
No room for the passing
What will this strain avail?

So I let his presence guide me
This figure serves to remind me
And the blockages he removes
Are the ones inside me

Thank you manmath, I'm glad you like it. I've been finding clues everywhere! I got my Ganesh on a lark, and after 12 hr driving with him, came to this realization. Wonderful how life unfolds.

Eric E, Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@

Linda, all your words are welcome here. Don't hold back, at least not with me. Alliteration is probably my favorite thing, rhyme so often sounds trite to me so I use it rarely, such as the end of Ale. Meter and rhythm are probably my weakest. But as you read all will be revealed. Thank you for your comment and your welcome. Oh, and theres wordplay and double meanings! Ha ha! :-)
