Elderberry Flowers

The laced-head heads
Of the elderberry flowers
Curtsied in acknowledgement
Of the sun arising east
The breakfast breeze
With the slightest ease
Had the lemon-grass skirt
Dance provocatively

The fairy-lace heads
Of the elderberry flowers
Agreed with exquisite manners
That the life-giving powers
Of the Light’s regal banners
Held the promise
Of a new day

A new day has come
Filled with promises
