Eidelweiss

Have I ever told you why you remind me of edelweiss? The tiny little white flower, with star-like petals that bloom in all directions? Have you ever seen edelweiss? It’s small and precious, and like you it carries so much importance. It’s a precious symbol of rugged beauty, though your beauty is anything but rugged. Your beauty is pure as the driven snow, white and innocent like these little star-flowers that grow amongst snow, amongst green grass and icy-cold air. I think of you when I think of edelweiss. They symbolise dedication to one you love. Maybe that’s why I see you in my mind’s eye when I think of this delicate little flora. To me, you are edelweiss, in all its scarcity. There will never be another like you; like edelweiss, you are beautiful and fleeting. My brother, do you know how loved they are? And how loved you are? You are edelweiss in the way your bright smile grows. You are edelweiss in the way your cheeks dimple, and your eyes sparkle. Your voice is edelweiss with every delicate tone and unique note. Forever and always, you are the precious and small, delicate white flower that symbolises so much in love, in protection, and in strength. Forever and always, you flower of snow. Bloom and grow.
