Notes About The Poem

At age 22, fresh out of college, I was teaching kids just a few years younger than I was. I probably

did learn as much as I taught that first year. I wasn't cocky like the teacher mentioned in my first two lines.

Education

New teacher hopes to impart
a fraction of what she knows.
In June, she hopes she taught half
		as much as she learned.
