Education

Education begins at birth
We start out learning
To eat and drink
Walk and talk
And what it means to be loved

A child entering school
Just beginning to learn
About language and math
Friendship… ourselves
And of innocent love

Now we’re reaching adulthood
We still can learn so much
College… career
Marriage and children
And love from heart to soul

Education even teaches at death
It’s when others learn to mourn
They’re ailing… health’s failing
Then sadness and tears
From loved ones, who’ve been left behind

I never thought it quite that way, but "life's university" is a perfect description. Have a blessed day.

Amen! Your poem is poignant and a reminder that the life that is lived is the greatest teacher.

So many believe that learning stops when you hit adulthood… little do they realize.
