Eden Undone

                                          I kept the hour, yet let the moment stray,
                                  as though all time had bowed and missed its seam;
                                           what failed to be grew sacred by delay,
                                        and even loss proclaimed it held my dream;
                                 So absence whispered my name, then turned to clay,
                                       and left me luminous with what I may not claim.

With lowly thanks I bow, and take this grace not as my due, but as thy generous courtesy. May my small labour be found worthy only by thy kindness, and I remain much beholden to thy fair words.
