Economy Blues
As I walk into the grocery store grabbing milk, bread, and butter in aisle 13, most of the supplies and goods went from $3.95 to $9.95.
Looks like inflation has arrived. I went through my purse to see if I have enough to afford
But all I have is $2.00 and a nickel. I might as well go to a restaurant to get a quick service.
Soon as I get there, I look through the menu of edible choices and see all cost between $2.00 to $30.00
Which is strangely the same amount as the gas prices
I pump into my car day after day.
As I am driving back to my residence
I see people on a corner begging for a dime for starvation and searching for a source to build financial security, peace, and longtime happy memories since the unemployment rate is still on the rise.
Especially us black folks that has always been the chosen Ones that will bleed in suffer.
As I enter to my shelter, I walk to the chamber of slumber to lay in my restful place and
Turn on the TV to find if there is any good news in this World.
I scroll through the channels and see settlers cry in sorrow as they are preparing to return to their native land,
Even though America is their real homeland where they are dreams, opportunities, and possibilities.
Still don’t understand how one of their own will worship an orange demon who calls them thieves, rapist, and felons
But I guess having the right skin will help them be part of his society.
As I continue to look through the channels,
I saw some of my own tap dancing around their Masta, as they celebrate his second coming back to the Government Plantation for the 47th time.
It never ceases to amaze me that some of the kinfolks from my melanated tribe are following the same route.
For over 400 years ago, our ancestors fought for our freedom and our rights to live in this land for equality,
Only to go centuries back to being the blackfaces at the Minstrel show.
I saw them laughing, shucking, and jiving in their white Masta’s estate, but so blind to not realize that they are tokens yet so focus on recognition and coins to save in their piggy banks.
Now I see why Harriet had to leave John behind.
I guess they don’t see without DEI, the gain of access to rights and opportunities will be denied to us.
They don’t see that this dictator is going to 1400 Constitution Avenue trying to rewrite our history so his heritage can be hidden and sealed from guilt.
There he goes declaring trade war against Mexico, Canada, Australia, China, and the entire union nation,
As he proudly strike them with increase tariffs
And not see that he’s making America go hungry.
Then him and his pack cheered as they send settlers to the Alligator Alcatraz where they are caged as one of the experimental animals fighting for food and air.
Especially they are proud of creating a Big Beautiful Bill where they as the rich, steals the money, the welfare,
And the health from the poor and
From the children’s mouths.
As he continues to let America collapse,
I see the people’s hopes fading away
Through the clouds in the sky of darkness.
I pray, in faith that there is going to be justice
Against Trump’s era of Great Depression
So the outcome can shine through as the light.
For now, I continue to sing the blues
Word for word until the sun rises again.
